Original Blend Coffee

This is an independent informational guide, not affiliated with Tim Hortons. Prices are typical ranges and vary by location and province. Tax is excluded and delivery app prices differ. Check the official Tim Hortons menu or app before ordering.

Prices last checked: October 2026. Prices below are typical Canadian ranges in Canadian dollars, before tax.

The Original Blend is the coffee Tim Hortons was built on: a medium roast, brewed fresh in every restaurant, and the default behind almost every coffee order in the country, including the Double Double. One listing describes the blend as 100 percent Arabica beans, blended and roasted in Canada, and the same blend is sold in grocery stores as ground coffee, beans and pods. This page is the price ladder for a plain cup, black or however you take it, because cream and sugar are free.

Original Blend prices by size

SizePrice
Small, 10 oz / 296 mL$1.59–$1.65
Medium, 14 oz / 414 mL$1.83–$2.09
Large, 20 oz / 591 mL$2.07–$2.29
Extra Large, 24 oz / 710 mL$2.35–$2.69

The same ladder prices Dark Roast and Decaf everywhere we checked, so the blend never changes the bill. There is also an 8 ounce Extra Small at some restaurants, the size that kept the name when the size names shifted down a step in January 2012. Listings do not price it consistently, so it is not in the table. What the listings do agree on is the shape of the ladder: a small still starts under two dollars, and each size step adds roughly 25 to 40 cents.

Calories and caffeine

Black, an Original Blend is close to nothing: 3 calories in a small, 4 in a medium, 5 in a large or extra large in the published nutrition figures. Everything after that is what you add. A medium with one cream and one sugar lists at about 100 calories; the full ladder for the sweetened builds is on the Double Double page. On caffeine, Tim Hortons publishes no figures, and third-party estimates for the same cup disagree widely, so this site prints none as fact. The honest version of that story is on the Nutrition and Allergens page.

Buying it for a group: the Take Twelve

For an office or a worksite run, the Take Twelve is the value play on the coffee menu: twelve cups of brewed coffee in an insulated box for $19.99, with cups, lids, cream, sugar and stirrers included, which works out to about $1.67 a cup against up to $2.69 for a single extra large. Three separate listings agree on the $19.99 figure exactly. Stock is not guaranteed at every location, so order ahead where you can.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a medium coffee at Tim Hortons?

Between $1.83 and $2.09 for a 14 ounce medium Original Blend, before tax. Cream and sugar do not change the price.

Is the Original Blend a medium roast?

Yes. Tim Hortons brews the Original Blend as its standard medium roast, alongside a Dark Roast that tastes bolder because of the roast, not because it carries more caffeine.

How many calories are in a black coffee?

Three to five calories depending on size, effectively none. The calories in a Tim Hortons coffee come from the cream and sugar, not the coffee.

How much is a Take Twelve box?

$19.99 for twelve cups with the cups, lids, cream, sugar and stirrers included, about $1.67 a cup. Call ahead, because not every location keeps the boxes in stock.
