Cold brew is the slow drink on the Tim Hortons menu: coffee steeped in cold water for many hours rather than brewed hot and chilled, which is why the listings describe it as smoother and less acidic than an iced coffee. Six builds make up the line, from a zero-calorie black to the rotating cold foam versions. This page prices all of them and deals with the two claims that follow cold brew around, the steep time and the Nitro that does not exist.

Like the iced coffee, the standard cold brew build is pre-sweetened on the fullest listing, and the black version is the same drink with nothing in it at the same price. The cold foam builds hold one flat ladder on every listing: roasted hazelnut with espresso cold foam, toasted marshmallow with infused cold foam and caramel toffee with espresso-infused foam have been the recent cycle, and the flavours rotate with the season, so check the board for what is pouring now.

The steep time and the Nitro question

No listing puts a number of hours on the steep. The strongest statements anywhere are many hours, a long steep, and steeped slowly and cold from the start. Sites that tell you Tim Hortons steeps for a specific 16 or 20 hours are quoting coffee culture in general, not a published Tim Hortons figure. As for Nitro: the word appears on none of the four listings this site cross-checks. There is no Nitro cold brew on the Canadian menu as published, in any size, at any price.

Caffeine and sugar

Cold brew carries more caffeine per millilitre than drip coffee because of the long steep; that much the listings agree on. The most-cited third-party estimate table puts a medium at roughly 200 to 250 milligrams, above a medium brewed coffee, and Tim Hortons publishes no figure of its own. Sugar grams are not published for any cold brew either, sweetened or vanilla, only calories. The black version’s zero calories is the one complete nutrition fact in the line.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a cold brew at Tim Hortons?

The plain builds run $2.49 to $3.99 by size. The Vanilla Cream runs $2.99 to $4.49, and the cold foam builds are a flat $3.49, $3.99 and $4.49.

Does Tim Hortons have Nitro cold brew?

Not on any current Canadian listing we check. The cold brew line is the black, the pre-sweetened original, the Vanilla Cream and the rotating cold foam builds.

How many calories are in a cold brew?

Zero for the black at every size. The pre-sweetened original runs 120, 150 and 240, the Vanilla Cream 120, 160 and 240, and the cold foam builds run higher again.

Cold brew or iced coffee?

Cold brew is steeped cold for hours and tastes smoother; iced coffee is brewed coffee over ice and costs about 30 to 60 cents less at the same size. Both are priced on the Cold Coffee and Iced Drinks page.
